Etsy Finds: Watercolor and Beeps

Next chance I get, I'm going to take a class to learn how to paint in watercolor.  I never mastered, (heh...who am I kidding with the word "mastered"?), actually I never TRIED painting in watercolor.  Come to think of it, I did a few things 30 years ago, back in high school, but nothing I was proud of. Working in 3D has always been my preference; sculpting, throwing pots, quilting, etc., that's how my brain works, I suppose.  But after seeing these beautiful paintings, I think to myself:  "I could do that" (with a lot of instruction and practice, of course.)

I especially like the paintings below as they remind me of my dad.  He always referred to birds as "Beeps"; my dad...always full of sweetness and wonderment, God help me, I miss him like the desert misses the rain.  I believe sparrows were his favorite.   He had quite a few wonderful stories about a bird he once had as a child.  There were many times he helped us nurse a sick bird back to health.  He taught me a lot about caring for innocent creatures like birds and dogs.  He also always encouraged my creativity, and I think it would be a great gesture if I honored his memory by continuing my journey in discovering my artistic abilities.

So, I suppose my journey in rediscovering my artistic self will land me in a painting class.  Hmmm.  So easy to find things like that in California with so many local community colleges to choose from.  Sometimes I feel so lost here in Vegas.  Time to put my investigative skills to work and finally learn how to paint in watercolor.
