She mentioned a quilt guild in North Carolina where she lives, they're located in Asheville. I googled the guild and after perusing their website have come to the conclusion that we quilters seem to be very much alike no matter where we live. I find this comforting, especially since I have met so many amazingly genuine and kind women through my guild. I should have also added "dynamic" as a way to describe these women, but that's another post for another day.
We also discussed how it seems that there are times when people are less than appreciative of "handmade" gifts, but that seems to be kind of rare. I definitely make an effort to give the things I've made to those who seem to appreciate it most.

My pillow is the stripey one on the left. :o) |
In fact, after chatting with Sharon I called my mom who said that another one of her neighbor's commented on how much they liked the poinsettia pillow I made and gave to her for Christmas. I've decided to gift these women (two more genuine, kind and dynamic women that I have had the good fortune to know my entire life) with a poinsettia pillow of their own. Actually, I think I'll make one of them into a sunflower just to mix things up a bit. (Just add this to the heap of stuff I've already committed myself to do.)
Tomorrow I will address the enormous amount of projects I would like/need to do. Too often I find that I allow myself to get overwhelmed by doing too many things at once, thus bringing out the real me...procrastinator. I'm trying to break some of those bad habits this year. Speaking of which, I need to get out and take a walk before the temperature drops again and it's too hard to breathe.
