Monkey Quilt

I made this "monkey quilt" in the spring of 2009 in anticipation of my niece Jennifer's first baby who we knew was going to be a girl.  I hadn't sewn in about 10 years mostly due to an uncooperative machine and, well, laziness on my part to get the machine fixed.  So glad I've gotten back to sewing and quilting.

I had never done any sort of freehand quilting before.  Considering I simply dropped my feed dogs and took the presser foot off (rather than using a darning foot), I think my quilting came out pretty good.
